Rembrandt lighting set-up.

This is when you set the your equipment in a semi-circle set up you have you camera in front of the subject and the light facing to the side either left or right of the subject, you then have a reflector on the opposite side to your lighting setting by doing this your end up giving the subject a soft lighting effect on their skin and giving the shot more of a mood and feeling like an emotion to the finale out come.

This lighting effect gives the photos a high depth of details and more of a soft skin contrast giving the photos a sense of calmness and feeling relaxed.

The artist Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was a Dutch draughtsman, painter and printmaker. who is a 17th century painter, whose work came to dominate what has since been named the Dutch Golden Age.

He used this technique in his work to show a more realistic detail on the faces of his portrait work.

Split lighting set-up.

This is when you set up your equipment in almost a triangle set up. This is when the subject is centre and the camera is facing the subject straight on and the lighting is either to the left or right of the subject only lighting up of half of their face, therefore giving the finale shot details are on one side of the face and the other pitch black.

This set of lighting gives the photos a strong sense of dramatic effect and more of a mood of feeling those in the shots emotions.

These are examples of other artist who use this style of lighting in there work, I couldn’t find the name of the artist that took these photos but these where the strongest and best quality shots i could find.

Butterfly lighting set-up.

This is when your equipment is set up in a straight line meaning you have your camera facing towards the subject and the light it above the camera giving the subject giving a straight on light in their face showing every detail on their face and showing good contrast in face details.

This lighting effect gives this shot a sense of softness and simple but more of a beauty factor to the shots. Taylor Hernandez uses this technique in her work sometimes, but I also like this photo because it  shows this lighting technique in a high quality shot in a very clear way.
